Undergraduate - Humanities and Sciences

The College of Humanities and Sciences is the foundation of educational and intellectual life at Virginia Commonwealth University and houses the core disciplines in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. The College of Humanities and Sciences is home to two schools and nineteen departments and programs as well as the core curriculum courses, preparatory programs for the health sciences, and education in the liberal arts and sciences for future teachers. Providing an education that enables students to link a foundation of understanding and knowledge with skills on which they can build careers, become responsible citizens and continue lifelong learning.

About the GSSP

The Undergraduate Global Student Success Program (GSSP) is equivalent to the first year of a bachelor’s degree program. The GSSP consists of for-credit coursework and provides an academic and cultural bridge from your high school experience to studying at Virginia Commonwealth University.

When you successfully complete the GSSP, you will move directly into the second year of your undergraduate degree program at the Virginia Commonwealth University.

  • Receive academic credits toward your VCU degree
  • Small class sizes and additional student support provided

Progression requirements

  • Overall GPA of 2.0
  • Minimum number of credits: 30

If students do not place into the math or writing course (based on university's assessment scores), an additional semester may be necessary. Courses also subject to change.
